Barium Enema

A barium enema is a special x-ray that helps determine if your child is having problems with their large intestine.

Bleed Scan

A bleed scan is a test used to find an area in the digestive (gastrointentional) system that is bleeding. The scan is done to locate the area bleeding. This will help the doctor decide on your medical treatment.

CT Scan

A computed tomography (CT scan) is a test in which x-rays are taken to study all parts of the body, such as the chest, belly, pelvis or an arm or leg. It can take pictures of body organs, such as the liver, pancreas, intestines, kidney, and heart.

Gastric Emptying Scan

A Gastric Emptying Scan may be ordered by your doctor to check how quickly your stomach empties, and may be used to diagnose Gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying).

A HIDA scan is a nuclear medicine test used to find any infections or other problems of the gallbladder or bile ducts. It is also used to evaluate any unexplained abdominal pain.

Meckel’s Diverticulum Scan

If part of your small intestine is formed into a pouch about the size of your thumb in your lower abdomen, you may be diagnosed with Meckel’s Diverticulum. This area may produce ulcers and bleeding. In order for your doctor to be able to see if you are bleeding in this area, he/she may order a Meckel’s Diverticulum Scan for you

MRI

MRI is an imaging technology that uses a large magnet, radiofrequencies and a computer to produce 2 or 3 dimensional pictures of the body. This test is used to see normal and abnormal tissue in the body, including the brain, spine, abdomen, pelvis and extremities. It can also be used to look at vessels within the body.

Small Bowel Follow Through

A small bowel follow through is a series of x-rays that are taken to see the small bowel (intestines). These x-rays can be used to diagnosis an abnormal mass, blockage, or problems with the small bowel. This test is also used before having a pill capsule test to make sure that the pill won’t have any problem passing through the small bowel.
